MODELLING OUR HISTORY
The Friends of the Nevada Southern Railway Model Railroaders operate, create and detail various different model railways for the Nevada State Railroad Museum. Representing Southern Nevada’s Toy Train Operating Society Silver State Division, they live inside a restored, air conditioned Harriman Chair Car once used on the Union Pacific Oregon Short Line.
Inside the coach there are two permanent layouts under construction. One is a layout done in HO scale that details the Boulder City Branch line shortly after the finished construction of the Hoover Dam, with plans on featuring a model of the Las Vegas Strip, and of the old Frieght Yard in Boulder City. The other layout is done in O-scale, detailing various different railroading scenery, from large industrial plants to large trestles over vast canyons. Plans on creating a G-scale railway outside the coach are also being currently discussed.
The model railroaders are also responsible for hosting an annual model train show and auction during our Santa Train season in December.
