About the project:

In 2018, the completion of the first phase of Interstate 11 Highway along with the restoration of a railroad line at Railroad Pass allowed for the possibility of train service between Boulder City and Henderson to resume for the first time since completion of the Hoover Dam. With this first train, museum train rides will now take visitors on a round-trip journey from Boulder City to Paradise Hills in south Henderson. As guests traverse the bridge spanning Interstate 11 and pass into Henderson, they will be treated to a view overlooking the Las Vegas Valley including a glimpse of the Strip.

Extension of the museum’s train rides were made possible through collaboration between the State of Nevada, City of Henderson, City of Boulder City, Clark County, and the Boulder City Chamber of Commerce. In 2026, the Nevada State Railroad Museum will open its new 9,000 square foot visitor’s center which will include a new passenger loading platform, museum exhibits, classroom space, and an archival research room.
