Boulder City Rail Bike Tours

Boulder City Rail Bike Tours at Nevada State Railroad Museum

Experience Southern Nevada’s desert beauty and rich railroad history from an entirely new perspective—on a rail bike. These pedal-powered vehicles let you and your group ride directly on the historic railroad tracks from Boulder City to Railroad Pass and back.

Each tour is 8 miles round-trip and lasts approximately 90 minutes, offering plenty of time to have fun and take photos. A guide will follow along, teaching you about the region’s historic rail lines and answering any questions.

Perfect for adventure seekers, young adults, and families, Rail Bike Tours offer an unforgettable journey through Boulder City’s historic rail corridor.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Is it difficult to pedal?

Rail bikes offer a leisurely ride, not a workout. Electric motors are available to assist those who need extra help pedaling, or can be turned off for those who want more of a challenge.

What should I wear?

Dress comfortably for the weather, as this is a fully outdoor experience. Closed-toed shoes are recommended.

Is it appropriate for kids of all ages?

While younger children can safely ride, it is more suitable for ages 5 and up.

Is it safe?

Yes. Each seat has seatbelts and chain guards. There is a mesh floor to protect your feet, and each bike is equipped with a brake. You will also be accompanied by a guide (in a separate bike) to ensure a safe, comfortable experience.

Can I bring food and/or drinks?

Yes! There is a picnic area at Railroad Pass where you can enjoy a snack while your bike is turned around for the return journey to Boulder City. Please note, possession of and operating under the influence of alcohol is prohibited by law.

Can I smoke and/or vape?

Use of tobacco/cigarettes/vaping is prohibited by law at all educational facilities (including museums) in the state of Nevada.

Is there a minimum group size?

Solo adventurers are welcome. Please keep in mind that tours are priced per bike, not per person.

Are there accessibility accommodations?

Individuals must be able to walk onto and off of the bike and sit upright in a seat without assistance.

What is the weight limit?

Each bike can hold up to 1,000 lbs.

What is the cancellation policy?

Tours can be cancelled for a full refund up to an hour before the scheduled time of departure.
